Turbo upgrade questions
Hey guys. I've got a s5 TII and was looking at a turbo that was for sale and it is said, and looks to be a direct bolt on to the exhaust manifold and the exhaust down pipe.
It's a Garret A/R .60 that was on a s4.
Questions:
This may be a silly one... Will it fit to my s5 exhaust manifold if it was on a s4?
Not sure if there's a difference in the exhaust manifolds or not..
Is this a good size to upgrade to?
Or should I save up and get something a little bigger?
I have stock ports
RB full exhaust
Koyo Radiator
and about to install a Sprint RE ECU.
Will buy FMIC before installing turbo, if I buy it.
My goals are 300-350 on stock port.
Any feedback is much appreciated.

If its a bolt on, then it's considered a hybrid turbo. This means that it retains the oem hot side with a cold side from a different turbo.
Bolt pattern and ports between s4 and s5 are different on the turbo/manifold, making them incompatible. However, these manifolds are swappable and can be found used rather cheap.
I have no idea about different turbos, but if it isn't some type of s4 or s5 hybrid turbo, I doubt it's a direct bolt on fit. "looks" and "is" are two different things. My advice, ask if it's a hybrid turbo.

Don't know if this helps but here's some pics. I can ask him tomorrow. I'm gonna be in his area tomorrow so I might just end up purchasing it.
If it is a hybrid, would it be a good idea to pick this up? (of course I would still need s4 exh mani)
Could I take my s5 hot side and use it and keep my s5 manifold?
I just don't wanna spend money for something that's not gonna make much of a difference over what I've got.
Price is in the low 200 range.

It looks like a hybrid turbo from what I can tell. Flange would be for an S5.
I really wish some one who knew turbos would chime in.
What turbo do you have now? If some one could tell you which bnr hybrid it's comparable, you could check it out here: BNR Supercars - Bryan Nickell's Rotary Supercars - Mazda RX-7 2nd Generation (1987-1991)

Looks like a hybrid s5 to me. The compressor housing has definitely been changed out but very thing exterior wise looks completely stock right down to the waste gate actuator. Has the seller mentioned anything about the compressor wheel being upgraded? You can take measurements of the inducer and exducer with a dial caliper and compare the measurements to the chart found in the turbo section on fc3spro.com for an idea of whel wheel they are using for the upgrade, if any.

There is a great thread here on the forum if you need help building a hybrid turbo. I suggest giving the details a read through and consider going that route. In all honesty if you already have an s5 turbo, building a hybrid from it shouldn't be to hard.
You'd have to source a donor turbo from eBay or something and salvage the compressor housing, backing plate and compressor wheel. Add in a rebuild kit for the turbo and you should be around the $200 you'd be spending on that other s5 turbo. Granted, his compressor housing is already a Garrett unit. I feel like it would still be worth a shot to at least go and check it out to do some measurements. The turbo for sale could already have an upgraded wheel and backing plate.
As stated above, for $200 you can recoupe your losses fairly easily with it.
