Turbo Trans Upgrade for NA
Hi:
My name is Chris, and I am new to the list. I am part owner of a 1986 NA RX-7 racecar. We have just swapped out the NA tranny, driveshaft and rear for Turbo units.
Since we did no research, we found that the turbo clutch disc was different. By calling Clutch City in Florida, we were able to source a Mitsubishi unit that fit.
Now the problem. Our starter will not work with the Stock NA flywheel. Is there any way we could get a starter to work, rather than replacing the clutch and flywheel, and buying a Turbo Starter? Can we possibly slot the ears on the starter to get us closer to the flywheel?
Thanks.

Ouch...You need to match the flywheel and clutch to the transmission, otherwise you will see the starter issues you are having. So unless you can somehow find a flywheel to fit, you need to swap to a TII flywheel, clutch and starter.
