turbo manifold crack?

So i pulled my turbo to send it in and noticed that my exhaust manifold is cracked pretty good on the inside and a little into the mating surface. Could this be the cause of a exhaust leak and how big of a problem will this be? Is there any way to repair them? Thanks

well, if its cracked badly then get a new manifold
it might be a good chance for you to get a better manifold if you have to replace it anyways

I don't think there's a cost effective way to repair them, but I've heard that most stock turbo mani's have some cracks by ~100k miles. Post pics and we'll tell you if we would even worry about its condition or not. If you're really concerned, just go ahead and build a custom manifold, a well built one will flow better anyway.

Cracked on the inside = not that bad, unless we're talking about a Kouki turbo?
Cracked leading to the outside of the turbo exhaust manifold should be replaced -> this is an exhaust leak

Heres some pics. Couldnt really get any good ones. I put a box around where the crack is. The top of it is where the crack starts. Im pretty sure its toast. Is there anyway besides jb weld that could fix it? Just dont want to have to buy one or make one, but if thats the only choice then. Sorry there so big too.

you can weld that manifold. You need to pre heat with oxy-acetylene, then you weld it with a stainless steel stick. On the mating surface you need to grind the crack, fill the crack with weld and the resurface the flange.

Strength would be good. Would not crack again in that areas. The trick to weld cast iron manifolds is to pre heat and clean the area and then weld with stainless steel sticks. I learned that from my cousin. He is a certified welder.

TIG it with a high nickel content filler. For something like that, you can actually get away without preheating it, but for maximum strength you should preheat it. Also, submersing it in sand right after your done welding it will slow the cooling rate and help prevent cracking.
