Turbo II LSD vs N/A LSD

I am looking to put a turbo 2 engine, tranny, driveshaft, diff into my car. I just wanted to make sure I get this right. I need the turbo axels from any year trubo rx7 (86-91), any year turbo 2 diff. My main problems/question is: the N/A LSDs have the N/A axles correct? they are longer and thinner then the trubo axels? And what is the actually difference between the Turbo 2 LSDs and N/A LSDs? The S4 T2 Lsd is clutch type, and S5 T2 Les is torsen type, with same gear ratio. I know the gear ratio differs in the N/A LSDs, but anything else that is different?

whats is the difference between the 3? I heard that the clutch tends to ware out fastest. and is it true we can swap a torsen from the fd into the tII housing?

Yes, the Torsen fits, yes the clutches wear out kind of fast. The GTUs is the only one with a different ratio (4.3:1 vs. 4.1:1) barring the automatic rear ends (3.9:1 I think)

By the way, you'll love the torsen.

clutch is good for drifting, torsen and viscous is good for grip but id use the torsen instead of viscous

Yes, for street use torsen is the best. Viscous lasts longer than clutch types, but is slower to react. Torsen is the best of both worlds.
And the difference between the NA and TII diffs is that the internals are of a different size (as stated earlier), plus the thing the driveshaft connects to has different screw hole locations, so you cant use the NA driveshaft with it.

If you have a GXL or another N/A model w/ a limited slip then you may look into the mazdatrix driveshaft adaptor. connects t2 trans to n/a diff

I know someone w/ a small block chevy on stock n/a diff and it holds up just fine

Yes, thats different too, but I'm pretty sure the screw holes are slightly different (enough to not work.) Check out rotaryressurection's "driovetrain differences" page to be sure. I would but I'm too tired. Night

Well I have a 89 GTU, but I am not the first owner, and this car did not have an LSD in it. It manual ofcourse. I am doing a complete T2 S5 swap. So I understand that i need t2 trans, driveshaft, and T2 diff. I was just not 100% sure if I had to change the axels as well... from what ive read tho, it seems like I have to because the Trubo2 diff is wider then the N/A, meaning Ill the need the turbo axles which are thicker and shorter, am I correct? thanks for all the replys guys

Yes, that is exactly right. Here is the link with all of the drivetrain differences: http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2n...in_differ.html
