Talking Turbo Blanket Experience?

Hey guys, just sent out my turbo to BNR for a stage II upgrade. I trashed my factory heat shield during the removal process (dont ask how). I didnt really want to reuse it anyway.

I'm just checking to see who has them and how you like them. I understand the benefits of having one, i'm just trying to get some advice. I've seen several on the market, but not sure of which brands are quality and what to look for in a blanket.

Any advice would be appreciated and pics and/or experiences (bad or good) with any brand or type would be great. thanks

I helped a friend install that one. Looked great for about 20 min. After a 10 min. drive it smoked like it was on fire, we thought the car was burning down. Speedmachine said that was normal, it makes a huge diffrence and the downpipe wrap is great.

For my money I would just get the hot side ceramic coated, you will spend the same amount of money and it will look much better in the long run.

so that's not too much different than the DEI Turbo kit either? DEI has a blanket and DP wrap kit also, it's about $30 less... interesting

Heat wraps are good. They keep the heat in the exhaust, but can also cause cracks too

I like my turbo blanket, but you have to spend the money to get a high quality one. I currently run the Gotham Racing blanket.

so what makes a turbo blanket "high quality"? what materials am i supposed to be looking for when i purchase one? what kind of fab process is ideal over another?

i know everyone loves name brand, but a name doesnt always mean it's better.
