turbo
Does anyone know where i can have a turbo built? I was thinking about buying a TO4R, and i still am, but HKS is so damn expensive. I'm looking for high numbers. The T51 KAI was another thought, but i figured that was overkill. Among others are a T-66, TO4S, TO4E, or maybe you guys have other suggestions. It will be driven on the street, but not a daily driver per-say. I want good power at 1 bar (~400ps) on pump gas. I know these turbos are for higher boost, and they will be used for that as well on higher octane/racing fuel where im really looking for good numbers (into the 550-600+ps range). A 1.15 A/R turbine housing sounds good to me so far. Spool time i would like around 3500/4000 rpm, maybe a little higher if it has to be. If you guys have any suggestions or can help me out, it would be much appreciated.

im not worried about that too much. I want a lot of power. A net of 400 probably won't do, unless you're talking about low boost levels. I was also looking at the XS's to4 series turbos, and the T51R kai, or one of my original choices a T66.

do you have $10 000 for a new ported engine, haltech ecu, injectors, fuel pump, FPR, FMIC, turbo, manifold, wastegate, custom downpipe, custom oil lines, custom intake, exhaust, dyno tunning.
without ALL of that. don't even bother starting...

Well I don't think a T04 is going to get you up to 500+ without a BP. If you actually want that much HP I think you might need to go with a T78. Especially if you don't mind a slower spool up.

If you're shooting for 500+ horsepower you might as stop now and get an FD. A 13B block is not going to get you there. 13REW yes...not 13B. The block will start twisting at that level. A T78 is too big for the street. Those things start flowing at 20psi+ .
Go to a T78 compressor map and look. It takes a lot of air to get those moving at full speed.
A TO4 60-1 HiFi is probably a better choice. You should start thinking of a plan than just throwing a number like "I want 500+ horepower" . Like I said, it's going to cost you a LOT. More power = more money.
That's the general rule. See Scott89t2's list. That's what you'll need as a base set up.

im not looking for a base setup. I dont want the lag of the t-78. A TO4R or T51R KAI seem to be the better choices, but i was wondering if there was anyone that knows where i can get a custom turbo buil, or where i can get unmarked turbos. And Scotts89t2, I am aware that this will cost money, i dont need someone else to tell me that. My question wasnt how much will it cost, it was what is a better turbo. If i didnt want to spend money, i wouldnt get the dog box either, but like i said, this isnt exactly going to be a daily driver. I would prefer if you guys helped me instead of giving your tired opinions.

i dont want a 20b, to me all that extra converting is too much of a hassle. I want a turbo that will get me in high HP range, but have pretty good spool time. I was also thinking of twin T3's or something like that, but i dont even know if i want to hassle with twin turbos, a single would be easier to me. So far, a TO4R and T51R KAI seem to be the best. A t-78 has too much lag as far as i know, but i will look into it more. I PMed crispeed, but i havent gotten any answer back, do you know of any other way i can get in touch with him or anyone else who could help me out? thanks

I don't know a whole lot about the T51. I see you've taken the T66 out of your options, which is good because lag is more of an issue.
Of course, you could always go with a T-66 or a T-78 and give it a lil' 100 shot to get things started...

A TO4 will make that kind of power without too much lag. But as others have said, you will need to go into the engine to meet your power goals. A standalone EMS will also be a necessity, as well as major fuel mods, FMIC, etc. etc.

Im not too sure yet, i was contemplating on either a large street port, or a small bridge and i want to use the FD intake and throttle body leading to the front mount.

Well, after more researching, the T51 KAI is out too (no good boost til ~5000rpm @18psi). So this leaves a T4, and something from the TO4 family. I would like to talk to someone who has high power to see what problems might occur (i would really like soul's expertice), or any other suggestions. Maybe i wont need as much power as i stated earlier, but i would like to know as much as i possibly can.

Biggest in the Garratt T4 family are the "T" series compressors (all big shaft) with the SMALLEST being the TS04 and going up to T-76. I say for cheap high power a T-66 with a LARGE street port. Can't have that kind of power without chitty lag as far as street goes. You want 500+ hp look for turbos to start spooling after 4500 (more like 5000-5800) and LOTS of mods. The 89-91 turbo blocks need extra pinning or dowling for that high out put but can hold up. Just ask soulassassin and crisspeed. The 13bew blocks have no special "majic" that makes them more suitable with the exception of the back plate being beefier near the oil fill. A properly pinned / clearanced / ported / proper intake and exhaust manifold will net you hp levels as a 13bew. look at the really fast forum members, Puerto Ricans, and Japanies people making insane hp #'s and times with the 13bt blocks.

thanks RacerXtreme7, appreciate more straightforward input like that in which tells me things i need to know, and not "it itsnt worth it, or itll cost too much money, bla, bla, bla" (not to mention im puerto rican and have lots of japanese friends and will be visiting japan soon). I would love to ask soul and crisspeed, but i havent heard from either of them. Ive sent them PMs but no response. 600 might be overkill, and i probly wont need that, but that doesnt matter. Im looking for a fast setup. I understand that a lot of work has to go into it. Maybe a TO4E and a large street port with other necessary mods is better suited for now, but im just testing the waters and seeing what setup is best for me, and what setups are better than others & how. The more positive feedback and knowledgeable feedback i receive, the better off ill be. I just cant stand the people who sit there and tell me ill need *this* certain amount of money, or that *this setup* isnt practical for certain driving, or other negative comments that just **** me off. If you're going to make comments like that, then dont waste my time. If you dont mind helping me out, then by all means, give me advice on certain setups, what is good, what is bad, things to do, etc.
