lol....welcome to the glowing turbo association....... lol...... mine does the same exact thing........ i dont mean it glows a little, mine was bright whiteish-yellow... and see through!! it does it everytime i drive it................. but it doesnt seem to hurt anything, she runs fine everytime i drive her!!! just make sure you let it cool off before shutting down the car....... at least 3-5 minutes....... otherwise you will have problems

HOLY ****! thats not right man, not right at all!
-Check your timing
-Check your cats
-If possible port your wastegate and get yourself a better flowing exhaust. Even if you don't have the money, you should defenitly get rid of your cat if its clogged. If its glowing that hot, coolant, and oil will instantly turn to steam/smoke and coke up the whole goddamn thing. Thats crazy! wow. saved that picture.

yea but you can't tell me that a stock seven brand new out of the factory would still have a glowing turbo! i just can't fathom how that turbo would last under that kind of heat...

I used to get my n/a manifold to glow in the dark on a regular basis, any spirited nightly drive you could pull over and see the thing glowing pretty bright... but like i said--thats at night

Haven't we ALL heard this
Wanna see something else that is weird at night?
It has to be pitch black to see this.....
If you are bare block you can easily see this....
Look at were your spark plugs disapears into the rotor housings....you should see a nice blue glow around the plugs...
seen this on like 4 different 7s

mine also glow red for drive about a mile, and was about less then 5 mins. The solution i found to fix this was timing, like what blackplague said. After fixing the timing it never glow red even after driving it for about 1hr

Are you running a FMIC?
How much boost are you running?
What was the temp that day?
Yes turbo's get hot, and yes they are mad to be able to survuve though extreme heat... but if they're running the way they should they should only get to be red glowing hot under heavy load for an extended period of time.
If your turbo is glowing red hot easily, then there's something wrong... can you imagine the heat your block is soaking up from your turbo being that hot..

It's fairly normal for the turbo to glow deep red after some hard driving, but regular driving shouldn't do it.
Something tells me you are running right. Is your AFM in the stock position? Car in good tune?

Oh and this turbo had a ported wastegate and a free flowing exhaust to the stock cat back. (no cats, 2.5 DP).

my turbo never glowed, even after full boost drives, i mean very hard driving at high rpms and full boost every chance i could, no glow. doesn't sound to normal to me.
