Question Transmission's rear seal....

Ok I know that some people say that the tranny will spit out all of its gear lube if the drive shaft is removed. Is this ALWAYS or only if the rear seal is messed up? Also will it all just spray out or will it slowly drip out? If it is a slow leak then I can just wait to re-attatch the drive shaft in a different position to allow for my diff to be removed

Santiago

PS- Thanks guys.

I've never dropped the shaft on an RX-7 but I've had the "pleasure" on a number of other vehicles. The seal seals against the tailpiece so when you drop the shaft, the seal is gone. Most of the time, it will be a slow pour to a steady drip. If the car is level, the leakage should be slight. If the front is slightly down, you might not leak any.
