Transmission rebuild kit

I have been doing some searching, as I'm on my 3rd NA transmission in my 1990 GTU in about 4 years. I race this car as much as possible (autocross, road race), and I believe that's what keeps doing these things in. I'm tired of buying used transmissions in unknown condition, so I've been trying to find a heavy duty rebuild kit, something with kevlar clutches and heavy duty (maybe even straight cut) gears. I haven't had a single bit of luck finding even a standard "OEM" rebuild kit, and I'd like to not have to switch to a TII tranny/driveline if I don't have to. Anyone know where I can get a good rebuild kit? I'd appreciate the help.

what you really should be looking at is cryogenically treating the internals. the rebuild kits aren't the issue it is the weak gearset that was never intended to be abused as badly as some of them are forced to accept.

for a more bulletproof setup you'd have to simply bite the bullet and get a TII transmission w/modified driveshaft.

manual transmission internals do not use clutches either, just synchros, ball bearings and roller bearings. none of which usually are what fail, it is the gearsets which can only be replaced w/new OEM for $$.

all it takes is one quick transition of off/on throttle to snap the n/a tranny.

I had looked into that breifly. But I feel like most of my issues come from either bearing or synchro problems. Is there any way to beef these areas up without the added weight of the TII driveline?

only with custom machine work. you could look into the miata gearset conversion which may give you more ability to play with bearing sizing.
