I run MT 75w-90 Redline in mine. Jegs will get it to you in about 2 buisness days. I also work at Oreillys and we can look that up on the computer so im sure Advanced can. You should go back and tell them they are D-BAGS.

Some vehicles, especially uncommon ones, have nothing listed in the computer, they just say to check owner's manual...which is why they told him that, I'm sure.
+1 on the neo synthetic.

PS: Since I read the scheduled maintenance part of the manual, I also know when to change the oil.
Any synthetic oil should clean up notchy shifting. I recommend synthetic oil for both the transmission and differential.

Are you filling the transmission through the fill hole on the side, or are you trying to fill it through the shifter?
Pictures would help.

Drain through bottom plug, fill through side plug.
Buy a length of plastic tube that can reach from the tranny to the engine bay. Get a funnel that fits snugly in this tube. Put the funneled end of the tube in the engine bay, then run the tube through the bottom of the engine bay and to the tranny. Hold the tube in the tranny while a buddy pours tranny oil into the funnel. Tell him to stop when it starts to overflow out of the tranny. Insert side plug. Rags will be helpful.
Neo is good stuff but Royal Purple Synchromax is also good and you're more likely to find it at your local auto store. Or you can order RP at www.racingbeat.com, Neo at www.mazdatrix.com. If you can't get either, then get GL-4 tranny oil NOT GL-5. GL-5 is a higher standard but it usually contains sulphur to meet the standard. Sulphur will cut the life of your synchros in half as it dissolves them. You could check for rotten egg smell, maybe you'd notice the sulphur that way. Not sure.
