Transmission + Engine Check Light Question

Curious about two things,

My shift lever is all sloppy and loose so I'm trying to find replacement bushings to make it all tight and nice again, however this specific guide: http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/shiftbsh.htm tells me if my middle boot is not snug around the shift lever, I need to buy new ones. Well I took a look at my middle boots and they aren't snug, however they're not horribly loose. I was wondering if the middle boot replacement is mandatory. I'm not too sure how long I'm going to stay on this NA transmission so I didn't really wanna dish out $85.00 on this NA Tranny. If I can get away with just dumping $25.00 for the upper and lower bushing sets that will be fine.

For question 2,

Car starts up/ Revs fine, but when I start to rev up past 3k or 4k RPMs, my engine check light comes on and the car goes into limp mode. I did the engine check procedures and came up with 26 and 27 which have to do with the OMP. However the previous owner of the car had already replaced the OMP.

The wierd thing is, when he took the car to the dealer (Before he replaced the OMP) for the engine check problem, the dealer read the codes 17, 27 and 33. Now the codes are different I guess? Maybe it has to do with the replaced OMP?

The Oil Pressure is normal, and Tommorrow when its day break I'll check if the OMP is hooked up nice and secure but I can't think of any other reason why the engine check light is coming on.

Any Ideas?

I got new bushings for my shifter and didn't replace the middle boot, it's firm now but the boot helps keep heat and odor out of the car.

As for the second problem. It sounds like the omp was either installed incorrectly, or was replaced by a unit that is defective. The pump has to push larger volumes at higher engine speeds, so perhaps it just isn't for one reason or another.

If you can get your hands on a known good one, i would definitely try it.

Hmm, ill check the OMP and try re-installing it but he said he got the OMP from some guy up north that rebuilds engines.

Would it help to know that if I rev the car to 8K, which it does easily if not in gear, the the revs immediately drop down below idle and sometimes stall the car for half a second.

My Idle is also irregular. Its not horribly bouncy but sometimes if I mess with the clutch the idle moves around.

Also is there a difference between a Turbo OMP and a NA OMP?
Maybe my OMP is a Turbo when I'm running NA?

I tried reseting the codes/leaving the negative unplugged for about 30 seconds and the codes I get are 26 - 27. Unless I read them wrong and am actually getting 20 and 6 and 20 and 7 but that doesn't make sense.
