Transmission coming off...torque the stack while its off?
I have having my transmission dropped in a week to replace the front input shaft bearing. My transmission has been making whining bearing noises in all gears but 4th (the bearing is under little load in 4th).
Since the monsterous bolts for the engine stack are back there, would it be a good idea to make sure they are still torqued to spec? I imagine 20yrs of stretching and compressing have loosened them some.
Also, how big of a torque wrench am I going to need? Sounds stupid, but I haven't seen the torque specs for those bolts.

won't hurt anything... bolts are torqued to 27-32 ft-lbs, but you'll need to eat your wheaties to loosen em.
i'd do it one at a time too

There is no reason to touch the tension bolts. They are spring steel and won't loosen up unless the engine has been operated continuously at high RPMs. If you change the torque on them, you must also replace the Dowty seal which seals their heads to the block. And you will never get a proper torque reading unless you fully remove the bolt, clean all the threads (including the ones in the block) and then reinstall with lube.
In other words, don't do it.
However, replace the main rear seal, and the pilot bearing and seal.
