I really think its the spacers. I just measured my stock S4 flywheel. From the friction surface of the flywheel to the surface of the mound that the pressure plate flange mounts to is .650"

I know they are exactly like pilot bearings. From your discription I pictured round aluminum spacers between the flywheel and the pressure plate. Thats pretty much what they do right?
If you remove the transmission, try this: Insert the clutch alignment tool and rotate it. If the clutch disc rotates, their is not enough pressure being applied by the pressure plate, meaning its too far away from the flywheel. Other than that, I don't know what else to say about it.

When you figure out what it is, post it on here. There are too many threads on this forum where people have a problem, but never post up what the solution was.
Good luck

I say junk it to. Lets get it ready for wacky. We will completley disassemble it down to the last nut and bolt and rewrite the haynes manual for everyone
The specs project84 gives for the width is too thick. That is approx 5/8 inch thick. Although
that is the depth from the surface of the flywheel to the pressure plate mounting the gap between the pressure plate and the surface of the flywheel on the Ls is half that.
I really think that Kori and his friend got extremley drunk and put the disc in backwards then tried to install a honda system in there
What iam i laughing at? I'm the one that has to straighten up this mess. I suppose i should be crying at this point. LOL.

For you all who read and participated in this thread, my problem turned out to be the incorrect LS flywheel. The flywheel was off of a 12a and obviously did not work. Almost everything about the flywheel was exactly the same I did get installed, except for a very slight height difference that did not allow the pressureplate to torque down fully. The 12a LS flywheel will probably be for sale if anyone is interested.
