does anyone know about how much it would cost to fix both those (the tranny and clutch) for a second gen?

Quite a few variables. If you're buying the parts and installing them, or garage is doing the work. I would say clutch assembly parts would be around $300. That's a decent assembly, not some rebuilt unit from a parts store. If trans is out and syncros are bad, $500/700 labor included for trans repair. Now if you take it to a garage to do the work, maybe $500 labor on top of that. Youself $800/1000 Garage $1300/1500.
Could always look for a used trans, and a less expensive assembly.
