tranny build up

ok i am guessing stock replacement parts are the best for most engine/tranny applications. so my question is... where can i order some parts online like maybe some synchros or clutch forks or things of that nature. it is a '88 T2 tranny and im looking to support 550-600 WHP. some suggestions for transmission upgrades would be helpful and appreciated.

PS: id rather not go to the mazda dealership

Thanks!!

I don't think theres any way to upgrade the transmission (apart from the fluid used).

There are no real options to upgrade the stock parts. What you can do is replcae the whole gearset. There are several companies that offer straight-cut gear sets (dog-ring) and one that offers a helical cut that is a bit quieter. Get out your credit card though as these ar not cheap.
Straight cut gears:

Helical cut gears:

In any case, I doubt you will be making anywhere near that power but if you are, the case itself as well as the shafts become the weak points. Drag racers tend to crack the case or twist the shafts. Not as much of a problem road racing but then you run into synchro problems in that application. Fwiw, there are several people succesfully running big hp/tourque 20b's with the stock trannies though most of them say they are relativeley gentle with them. Of the the 20b crowd, the gearbangers tend to go through trannies in a hurry, but at ~$200 a pop used it's not a big deal.

There are others who outright replace the transmission. I just received my Getrag V-160 6-speed (Mark IV Supra) yesterday and will be installing PPG straight cut gears into it. There is a (soon to be) conversion availbale for this swap.
