Trailing timing = W.T.F. mate?

I checked my timing a while ago (when the damn light was still working...), and the leading seemed to be dead-on, while the trailing timing seemed to be on the wrong side of the yellow mark (right instead of left), although it seemed to be the correct distance, at least...

Does anyone know why it would be on the wrong side?

The only way to get it closer was to retard it, but that made it run like crap again... advancing it made it go even further away from the mark.

I don't think I could have gotten the pulley or the marks wrong, since there's only one way to put it on, while I'm pretty sure when I restabbed the CAS I aligned it with the yellow mark...

But what would make just the trailing be in the wrong place on the pulley? Could that be causing my problem of wierd noises and no power?

Did you go by the FSM procedure, jumper the initial set coupler?

Pulley marks are evidently wrong. Which? Probably the Trail. Why? Got me.

Unless it's a first gen pulley on a series four or five. First gen non fuel injection were I think Lead at Zero and trail at ??? 20degrees ATDC. I'm too lazy to check it out. No vested interest.

But a first gen bolt pattern is different and won't fit S4/5 unless you wallow a hole.

Well, I had read in the manual that the trailing mark is supposed to be on the left of the yellow mark, but isn't advance (since trailing is more advanced) actually to the right, not the left?...

For the record, I can't even see the trailing mark (well I think I can but it's WAAAY too faint to use with a timing light).

make sure your TPS is set before you set the timing, otherwise the stock computer will put it where it wants.
