Trailing Coil and Secondary Injectors Question

Quick question, if the trailing coil cuts out, will the ECU cut the secondary fuel injectors with the coil or continue to inject fuel?

you will still get fuel to the injectors.
Trailing coil is Ignition, not fuel.So even if the trailing coil is not firing you still get fuel out of the injectors.

That's what I thought. I'm essentially building a new ECU harness, since I've been having my secondary injectors are firing intermittently, and I've already checked the injectors, all the sensors and swapped ECUs. I also checked for continuity on the harness, but if it's a intermittent break, I'm better off just running new wire and using new connectors where I could.

What makes you think the trail coils are not working all the time?

How do you know the secondarys are intermittent?

No, not the trailing coils, I'm sure they're fine, the problem is with the secondary fuel injectors not consistently firing at high RPM. I asked about the trailing coils because I wanted to eliminate them as the cause of the problem.

I know the secondaries are not firing consistently because I have lack of power at high RPMs which feels like hesitation. When I do a load test, I have heard both injectors fire inconsistently. The primary injectors are fine, the sensors, etc are all fine (ranges on the TPS, and AFM are good, injector ohm values are within spec, CAS is within spec). I originally thought that my ECU was damaged because I had crossed the battery cables once.

I'm replacing the wiring because it's 20 years old, and if there's a break somewhere, I'm not going to find it with a continuity test. I once stripped and re-wrapped the ECU harness, and when I replaced the 1/4" terminals I didn't crimp them properly.

it could be simply that the injector connector isnt connecting properly to the injector. I had the same issue and turns out I had 1 little bend in the finger of the connector to the injector. Once i fixed those and reattached it, I never had a singke problem again. That's after going tthrough all my grounds and a bunch of other crap. If ONE secondary injector has any slight issue, both will not work. I mean I could be wrong about that, but thats how it worked out for me.

Ah ha. I did replace all four injector connectors with new ones (the originals were cracked) but I didn't notice any bent pins on the secondaries. I've noted that and will check on that tomorrow. Thanks.
