TPS problem

I hooked up a test light to adjust my TPS cause i can tell my fuel is running a little to rich and backfires on decelleration. When i checked the lights the acceleration light came on like it was suppose to but when let go of the throttle the second light did not come on at all. i know it is not the light cause we used another check lights to see if it was the case but it wasn't. So i went out and bought and got raped in the *** for new a new TPS thinking it would fix the problem but it didn't. So i would assume that it is a wire between the ECU and the TPS, or is it? What should i do and check?? Also with that one TPS not registering would it make me have my car run richer and there for not run right cause of incorrect fuel calculations?? Please help with suggestions cause it is pissing me off.

i dont understand how you used the lights to check it. it doesnt sound like you adjusted it right
