On a series four car the TPS check connector is located near the right front strut tower. I suppose the series five is in the same location.

Yeah. It's the ECU that outputs a gnd signal to the TPS connector and the two solenoids at th same time.
The L/Y wire at the TPS conenctor also goes to the relief solenoid and a gnd is put on that wire when the TPS outputs approx 1vdc. Again, the wire can be off the relief solenoid and the gnd will still be put on the green, three socket TPS check connector.
The other wire in the green, three socket TPS check connector is L/R and is spliced into the L/R wire on the switching solenoids elect plug. Plug does not have to be connected to the switching solenoid for the gnd signal to be put on the green three socket TPS check connector.
Neither the L/Y nor L/R wire should be touching gnd or eachother if those plugs were cut off the respective solenoids.
What's wrong? The LED lights are not coming on when plugged into the TPS check connector when you adjust the TPS? I think the key needs to be ON and engine Off when you do that.
