Tps
Hey guys
I'm having trouble setting up my TPS. I did the two light method. Now then... you're supposed to adjust the tps as close as you can to the two lights being on simultaneously, without them being on. Correct? Thats what i tried to do. But the range at which the two lights turn on wasn't sufficient for the amount of screw space that I had. Meaning, I've released the screw almost to the point where it's about to pop out. And I still don't get the two lights on. Mind you, if i push the TPS in about a quarter inch, the two lights do turn on. So what can ya suggest? Is my TPS bad?

So if you go the other way you can get two lights? It sounds like you may be going the wrong way. Try going the other way until you get 2 lights and then back off a quarter turn, if I remember right. It's been a while.

Try reading this, but ignore the ohms values at the bottom of the page(JPG ATTACHED). When you tire of playing with lites and just want to set the tps, put your positive lead from your meter in the back of the TPS PLUG wher there is a green wire with a red stripe(NOT THE GREEN TEST CONNECTOR) and the neg lead of your meter on a good ground(battery neg). Do not disconnect the tps plug when doing this. Everything is connected and in place. Turn the key of the car to the on position and then turn the tps screw until your meter reads one volt(.95 is good enough). Your done as in through. Go get a beer or drive the car. By the way, the car HAS TO BE fully warmed up prior to setting the tps. Preferably HOT.

AKABILLY,
The narrow range sensor on a '91 is exactly the same as an 86-88. The correct wire is the top row, farthest to the right on the back of the plug on the harness (not the TPS) side. I forget the wire color (can't check it on my '87 ). Goin' for the same voltage to ground though. Have fun!
