My last 7, a bone stock 86 NA, hit 185km/h in 5th and wouldn't go any faster. This was with tires rated to 180km/h (205/60R15.)
My current 86 NA has a K&N, downpipe and hi-flow cat and I hit 202km/h in 4th @ 7000 with the same tires. Then I caught up with traffic and had to reign her in. I haven't had a chance to run her up since, but my brand spanking new tires are 205/60R15s and are rated to 220km/h.
See ya in the rhubarb!

Maybe he has an aftermarket gauge? Or a friend was pacing him in a plane?
That's 240, bc! Now I gotta go drop off these relief supplies and head back to base! See ya in the hanger!

270 in 4th?? Uhh... sure...
Anyways.
Alright, I've been doing a few runs lately, and the car is liking the recent colder weather (as expected).
I hit bang on 230, which is 143 mph... and it didn't really pull much more. I don't really want to let it hang there to find out either, since I am pulling about 8700 rpms at that speed! If I let it sit there for maybe 10-15 sec it might pull more, but the engine is really screaming!
PROBLEM: If I shift into 5th, it'll start slowly slowing down!!!!
I forgot to look at what RPMS I'm pulling at that speed in fifth.
At a 30% OD, should that gives me about 6000-6100 rpms....that's right about where I feel the big hit in power.....
I didn't look at the S-AFC RPMS's... I wonder which is right??? Tach or S-AFC??
Oh well.. I don't really know what I can do here. To hit 150 (243 kms) I'd probably be around 9000 rpms! I don't like spinning my engine that fast for any more than 10-20 seconds!! Oh well... maybe someday.
Only 7 more MPH!!!!!! I have no doubt I could hit that if I really abuse the redline.. especially on a short downhill.... (cheating...)
I may fiddle with the S-AFC a bit at 8000 rpms to see if I can tweak more....
Man, I'd love to have it truly dyno tuned!!! Not just 02.....

My 1987 na 4 SPEED WILL DO 125MPH IN 3RD GEAR AT 6000 RPMS. Just got her a month ago, only upgraded the wheels so far. Does anyone know of a place in the bay area that has good deals on exhaust/intake.

I've only done one "top speed" run (I actually had just bought the car and wanted to clean some carbon out and see what kinda condition it was in after I drove it around for about 1 hour). I only took the car up to 180 km/h (112mph sorry I was never a fan of the "standard system", I was always one of those weird kids ). After I added a few things and made sure the car was in GREAT working condition I took it out again and ran it up to 155 km/h (95mph) taking it pretty easy all the time (checking accelaration through the gears w/out ringing them all out...never higher than 5krpm). I'm not really sure what the car will do top speed but I feel pretty confident it'll "easily" hit 135. I'm not really gonna take it out for top speed until I decide on what aero mods are the best for the car (and I'm NOT talking about stupid aluminum wings) while still making it look as close to stock as possible.
