I really don't think that he will have to worry about blowing any seals at 6-8 Psi on a stock (or slightly larger) turbo.
Those hot spots IMO would be caused more to the lack of proper tuning.
Also he is still on the stock piping and intercooler, so i'm pretty sure that there will be higher temps with a larger turbo pumping the same pressure into the stock piping versus a stock turbo doing the same.

well the exhaust, intake and other constrictive things cause the lower boost of the stock turbo so i'm sure it would do it to a hybrid however you gotta remember that the amount of boost on a stock turbo is differant the the same amount of boost on a hybrid because of the larger compressor.
