I'm gonna keep the stock rims on my 88 GXL and change the tires. ( the rims are immaculate
) I wanna upsize the tires to 225's from 205's ..... will they fit??

I'm running 225/50/16 Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's on 16x7" rims on an 88 gxl.. It's close, but they fit with no rubbing.
It grips a lot better now... Partly due to the wider tires, but mostly do to not having **** tires.
I've heard about some ppl who have 225's rub.. I guess it depends on the wheel offset. You shouldn't have any trouble in the back, i believe.. Worst case, you sell the front two 225's, and get some 215's or 205's for them, eh? Go for it!
