Timing Question

I have an 87 TII. I was reading in the service manual about checking timing. I folowed the directions, and the yellow timing mark was lined right up, but when I checked the red timing mark, it didnt even show up when the timing light hit, any ideas or things I can do to get the red light to match up with the pin??? thanks

Make sure your idle is set at around 750-800 rpm. Verify that you are connected to the T-1 lead when checking for the red mark. (L-1 for the yellow mark, T-1 for the red.) If all that is correct, shut the car down, put it in neutral and rotate the pulley with the marks by using a socket wrench on the PS pulley nut. Check the two marks which should be an inch or so apart. If the paint has worn off or become obscured, it may be there but not visible with the timing light. carefully repaint them if that's the case.

BTW, is that Chambersburg, PA? If so, we are neighbors 'cause I'm located in the Mont Alto area.
