Disconnect the "pickup" from the plug wire, and put it back on again...If this doesn't work, remove the power from the timing light, then reconnect it. For some reason you'll get a leading signal on the timing light while the mark is 180* out, which is why I'm telling you to try this...

its at the very end of the pully, might be hard to see but the colors are red and yellow. If you can try and feel for the dimpuls, when looking toward the engine the right dimpul is yellow and the red is on the left.

The eccentric shaft has a keyway.

This keyway can only be seen when the front eccentric shaft bolt is removed.

When that keyway is 90 degrees to your left when looking into the engine....the hash marks on the pulley that indicate the timing...should then be at the top of the pulley.

You might need to clean the edge of the pulley off also- I thought my painted marks were long gone until I actually cleaned this sucker up during the rebuild (hey...there they are...)

Reduce you search. How? The pulleys are held on with four bolts. One at a time, turn the pulley til one bolt is on the very top. Then look for the two hash marks on the rear edge of the pulley. Not there? Then turn the pulley til the next bolt is straight up. Look again. Do this four times and you should be able to find the the outline of the two hash marks. Most likely the red and yellow has gone away years ago, but the traces of the has marks should be there. Might be real faint. Your might need a mirror to see the four attach bolts for the pulleys.
