Timing 180 out?

I've found the timing marks, set the light up and couldn't find the timing marks. I read some of the other threads about this and found the two grooves. I've painted them with two colors, and when I set up the light...still no marks. Is it possible that this car is set up at 180degrees out? It runs fine, but I wanted to tweek the engine a bit. If it is out, and running like that how do I put it back where it should be. Can I wreck my engine driving it 180 out? As you can see I have lots of questions and just a few issues with my new toy!
