If you couldn't buy a decent TII for $6500, you've done something wrong. I didn't pay that much for my modded S5 TII, perfect interior.

Its easy to put the rest down when you are on the other side of the fence! He is giving away all of his NA stuff, if he perform the conversion, his total price should come down all the way to 2K at least.

You saying your car has problems? Try taking care of it.
Just B/c you buy a used car, doesn't mean the thing is pooched.

Easy cowboy,
Since you want to get "Technical"
- You definetly need a T2 pump at least, which you can buy for way less than $100, so instaead of deducting 140, deduct $100 for a used T2 pump. My bad on this one!
- The boost gauge on the T2 is useless, having that in mind, you should add it to the cost of buying a T2 For the mods he will have at the time he finish the whole swap, an aftermarket fuel pump would be a great idea but not necessary. A fuel pump rewire comes to mind!
Cool so its not $320 but $280 you need to subtract to the total cost of the swap, just to have "similar T2 setup" on a NA.

A T2 comes with... a T2 fuel pump. No need to buy one when you buy a T2. So I'll give you the $40 deduction, and maybe wiring. Like I said, an aftermarket guage is a mod, but again, not required to "build" a T2.
Even follwing your scheme, a boost gauge and a wiring harness can be subtracted ($50 + $130) is $180 from the total cost, not $280.
Do the math...

Sell my N/a for $3K, buy the TII for $5K, and spend an extra $1K on mods. So now I have a modded TII instead of a stock bastard car.
You could resell a TII for $5K. You couldn't resell a bastard car for $6K. Again, simple math.

no, not just you..i wish i could do it myself..but...
its my Daily driver, im 17, im not as one would say extremely experienced.
I know how to swap out a turbo (yay) but think how long it would take me to do an engine swap/drivetrain swap and not have my car on the road...
Did i meantion my mom would destroy my soul if my car was disabled for that long..

Wow, 3k for the swap, dont sound to bad to me
I am sortof doing the swap, very slowly though, the car is empty, all electrical and drivetraine that isnt going to be used is out
im not sure if i want to go S5 T2, i was thinking of going 13B-RE because of the recent availbily of the mounts from fc3s.org, they state that there is no problems with the engine physicaly fiting in the bay if a T2 hood is used
mmmmmmmmm that and a GT 35/40 in my lil ol car, that would be nice

87-88 TII has a seperate knock control unit aside from the ECU
89-91 TII ECU has knock control integrated in the ECU
N/A cars do not have any sort of knock control.
Since this is an N/A->TII thread, I figured I'd chime in with a little more detail. Some people may misunderstand that and attempt to run the 89-91 N/A ECU on a turbo. The car will run and drive with the 89+ ECU, but it doesn't have the correct fuel maps for boost.
I've done the swap, and if you have the parts, or a wrecked parts car - I say do it. My swap was on a 90 GTU and I would do it all over again if I had the cars to do it with.
BTW: The N/A brake booster will be fine. There are differences in size, but you won't notice it unless you're incredibly **** about everything.
I'm glad to see people doing the TII swaps. I'm from the generation of domestic motorswaps and fabrication at will. When people look down on a project because it doesn't bolt in without modification or plug in without having to look at a wiring diagram, it makes me sick.
I think "Plug and Play" has gone too far. Do you think people like Felix Wankel or Rick Engman are "hacks" because they went beyond "Plug and Play"? I sure don't. I admire people who take the initiative to tackle a project, find problems along the way, and find the solution.
Say what you want about TII conversions, but I like 'em.
..."See that '55 Chevy over there with the 427 and supercharger?... It wasn't a bolt on." - overheard at a local car meet.
