What are we putting in our tanks?
Reason being, I just got in a discussion about this with a friend... i was always under the impression that regular (~87) was prefered, and that only the FD's were to run Super (93) Lemme know what you think.

Highest I can get in Washington is 91 so I guess premium, if I could get 93 I would be using that instead. Knocking in an engine, bad. Knocking in a turbo rotary engine, even worse.

I've been told it depends on your mods. If you are stock you can use 87, which the car was rated for when it left the factory and as your mods add up you should move up the scale. I personally don't have but an intake really but I won't go less than the mid-grade (89).

See, I had an '87, with racing beat dp, pre silencer, and a 2 3/4" single after that, and then a cone filter on the Mass Air, No FCD, No fuel upgrade etc... I ran 87 all day long with NO problems, by buddy, who has an '88, stock (except for HKS boost controller, to which we don't know where it has been adjusted to) had just started running 91 (or 93... whichever is super her... i forget) and he's running for ****... I thought it may have something to do with it... it wouldn't make sense to me, but early in my rotary days, when I was just a ******* spounge of information on this ****, I remember reading that no matter turbo or not, that lower octane would improve both fuel economy, and performance... I guess I was mistaken, or misinformed... Thanks. (For the record, when I was running 87, in the '87, that bitch pulled... no loss in performance at all. Damn I miss her )

In Canada we have Ultra 94 at any Sunoco Gas station with 10% Alcohol additives. Thats what I had been using in my TII. I guess 87 is okay if your stock; after all thats what the car was designed to run on. However higher octane burns slower than lower levels, but burns cleaner.

Yes, the higher octane burns cleaner to make your engine last for a million miles, gets 10000% better gas mileage, and is required for all turbocharged cars regardless of what the manual says, or my name isn't Joe Isuzu. Welcome to one of the greatest scams of the 20th century, which apparently continues into this century.

Well you have to think of what octane the car is set up for. If you have a stock 7 and you are supposed to use 87, use 87. If you have a super modded lightning fast 7 that you built the engine to run on 110 octane use 110 octane. The best results on you car from gas should be what the engine was biult for. Like the super fast lamans 7s that used like 78 octane gas. Thats what they were made to use and thats what they used.
just the .02 cents of a freind who built drag race engines for 10 years. Use what the car was made to run and keep it tuned up. Thats the best bet.

- My TII has "Use 95Oct Unleaded" in the gas tank cap and in the manual....
- Up until now we had "Unleaded" (95 Oct) and "SuperPlus" (98 Oct). A couple of months ago Shell introduced the V-Power, which was a 96 Oct with some cleaning additives, so I've been using this since....
- But now Shell just introduced the V-Power 99+, which is -as you can guess- a 99Oct gas Costs a bit more (1.1 EUR per liter), but I think it would be nice to use this gas every once in a while

Does higher octane gas not burn as clean for emissions or something? I'm just trying to figure why in California, we get **** 91 octane as the highest, while other states get 93+ and other countries get 96+...? Somebody clue me in?
