I guess liked the RX-7 for its looks and handling. And to be honest the base model FC is not that bad for acceleration, but it seems to flatten out up top on stock ports. Still, 150hp and race car cornering abilities for $1200 couldn't have been had any other way than my S4 base.
One day I may boost this car but with a roots of my own fabbing.

I really like the N/A, it will be much more forgiving while you learn the little quirks about the rotary engine. Once you have learned quite a bit about it then get a turbo. Its a good way to go about it. But personally my N/A is plenty capable of getting me speeding tickets that woudl get my license pulled, and handles great so I am happy.

Pure balanced driving feel has everything to do with it.
And Roy (and any others that claim the Turbo is the best) why did Road and Track in their comparison testing of the 88 GTU and the 88 10thAE, call the 88 GTU the real tenth anniversary RX-7, that they would pick any day over the Turbo 10th AE and much more true to the RX-7 heritage???
So following your same thought idea, then I must say: Turbos are for people that have to prove something.

Actually, I bought my 'vert BECAUSE it wasn't boosted. Simple fact is that with more performance comes less reliability.
A car is a tool, you buy the right tool for the right job, it's that simple.
If you want to hop in and have a little fun every once in a while while driving to work but not have to worry about it every time you go WOT after 60k miles on the seals then you stay NA. It's just that simple. For most people it has NOTHING to do with how much money you have.
Actually, if you can't afford a car you buy something REALLY cheap and REALLY reliable: I.E. Civic or something like that.
So no, it has almost NOTHING to do with not having enough money, I'm sure a lot of people have pleanty, it has to do with round peg in round hole.
Not everyone is a street racer you know..

Whoa! Back the trolly-train right up! I certainly do not wish that I had bought a TII. There are many reasons I decided to turbocharge the NA. Of course, power was one part of it. But I could have gone so many other directions (peripheral port NA, 3 rotor, V8). I wanted a faster car, but that didn't mean that I wish I had bought a TII. I chose to do the project because I thought it would be fun, and had so rarely been done before. Plus, I like to **** people off doing stuff that "can't be done". It was a massive learning experience for me, and I don't regret it for a second. The car performed great. Now, I'm doing a rebuild + bridgeport on the same engine for something fun to drive until I get the 20B ready. Again, major learning experience as this is my first rotary engine rebuild.
What I'm trying to say is that, no, I was not satisfied with the power of the stock NA. But that doesn't equate to me wishing I had bought a TII. If I got my flux capacitor all charged up and went back in time, I would have done things exactly the same (well, I would have avoided a certain girlfriend, but that's irrevelant...).

and yes i was "flaming" DEZERTE
for flaming me to begin with by calling me/my post/my opinion stupid. But it doesnt matter now does it?
anyways, if you are tight on money, stick with the N/A for now. Still not saying you wont put your life's savings in the car, but all in all they can be "quick" at best (low 14s if you are really lucky) but by then you would have spent enough money to have a really fast TII (fast as in straight line).
I did not know that so many people around here would take offense to me saying that they might have wanted to buy a TII after they have owned their N/A for a while, I know me personally cant stand driving such a slow car (and i have mods out my ***) which is why i have choosen to fab a turbo for my block. I forgot how "pansyfied"(go ahead and edit that one too Icemark, you edited the word "moron" out of my other post) everyone was about the N/A VS TII subject.

I was appologizing for what i said to DEZERTE and it got edited as well but whatever i guess ill start calling people "stupid" since it seems that its perfectly OK to say that to people giving their opinions, but whatever, i dont throw the change around here.

ive owned both an 88 se and an 87t2 i feel that the na is much more reliable. especailly when taking turns. when the boost comes into play its seems to want to kick the back end out more. but you got to love the power. either way ill still take my t2 just because i love teh power and its cheaper for me to make it faster.

most people I've talked to always want more out of their N/A. I was never satisfied with my GTUs, and now I couldn't be happier with my MR2 Turbo.
Test drive both, then decide.
