TII or MR2
87+TII or a MKII MR2? Which is better performance, handiling mostly, but 1/4 mile times? averige price of performance parts? avrage price of car? What about insurance? isnt that cheaper for a FC? and fianally, I know the MR2 is a sigfigant amount more of $$$$ (hey im 16 give me a break) but would it be worth it?

Pick the one you like most. Just read up on them a bit, i'm sure someone will post some good MR2 links soon enough below this. I personally love both cars and would be satisfied with each.

I say the TII cause i really think that they have soo much tunning potention for relatively cheap a bike well if you live in california is fine! cause you can ride all season long! but here! In cold canada! during the winter is practically no good! So i stick with my S5 TII

I voted for a TII cause I think they're cooler than MR2's (not by too much cause MR2's rock) and cause I like the idea of being surrounded by metal when flying down the road, versus not even a seat belt on a bike (I don't trust other drivers very much). But that's just my .02

Well, I like Turbo II's & I think you can do a lot of work to them. MR2's, I don't think you're going to get a lot of power out of them but I think that you can do something with them. The 9K bike, well all I can say is that you can "Shift Mad Quick Yo" with that bike. I'm just happy with my Diamondback Sorrento. I have it for 10 months.

- excellent power potential (600+ hp)
FC3S cons:
- it's an 80s car, no doubt
- 80s reliability
- not a great daily driver
SW020 pros:
- great looks (it's a baby Ferrari, for cryin' out loud!)
- decent aftermarket
- decent power potential (400 hp)
- it's a freakin' Toyota! Talk about reliable!
SW020 cons:
- it's a freakin' Toyota! Talk about a boring interior!
- handling can be 'interesting', depending on your skill
- not as 'interesting' to tinker with

2nd gen turbo MR2 is comparable in price to 3rd gen RX-7! I vote for doing like I did and buying a TII for $1000-3000 and spending the remaining $12-15,000 on high end JDM aftermarket items! Why settle for sportscar performance when you can have supercar performance. This was burned into my mind when I saw RE Amemiya FC3 spank equally modded Skylines and NSXs at the track!!!

stock for stock, the MR2 is faster, and probbably gets better gas mileage and realiability and stuff. but if you bought a T2, and spent the price difference on performance parts, you'd have a car beyond compare.

I say MR2. I love em. Midengine, rear wheel drive, light weight, incredible exterior styling, suberb handling. I would sell my n/a in a heartbeat for a MKII Turbo! I am actually lookng at a 93 N/A MR2 for my daily driver...

On the MR2, stock 1/4 is 14.7. It takes little to get into the 13's. A new turbo to get into the 12's, and a built engine to get into the 11's. 10's would take mucho $$$, and get you instant fame in MR2 groups (nobody's in the 10's).
Handling, there tough to beat. I would say the only "affordable" car that can compare is a FD. (Dunno about FC) The key is you have to know how to drive it. You shouldn't lift off the throttle in a turn in any car, just more so in a mid engine.
On the originallity that Rpeck mentioned. I don't know how it is in CA, but over here I see a lot more FC (granted, not turbo) than I do MR2's.
A good mkII turbo is going to be from about 7000-10,000. Check out www.xcars.com THat's the MR2 classified page.
I can't do any comparisions yet on FC's. I hope to buy one shortly, and no, I'm not selling my MR2.

For $9K, you can get a TII plus mods and a nice downhill bike, or a decent MKII MR2. If the stock performance of either won't be enough, then go for the TII. If you are going to leave it stock and want reliability, go for the MR2. Personally, I need both...and I already have a nice bike.

It all depends on what you want to do. Get an MR2 if you want quick power with some mods and a decently fast car. If you really want something that screams, pick up a TII rebuild the engine, port it all, and set it up to rev high. You will be fast, and then you can just bolt things on and tune your fuel and raise the boost and nothing will touch you. And an FC will out handle an MR2 any day of the week, even more so with some stabilizers and a strut brace. An FC also pulls all the way to about 7500rpm + where as you can definitely feel the MR2 weening out at just before 6400rpm. One thing I like about my friends MR2 though you can dump the clutch all the way at 6k and you still won't loose traction.
Oh yeah. When your all said and done with the FC it will end up costing the same as nice stock MR2.

I have heard of MR2s having traction problems with clutch drops at 4000 RPMs or lower. I also don't think an FCs handling is as much better as you claim it is, but that may be based on personal experience.

Yeah I disagree about an FC out handling any day of the week. It might be close, but I doubt it's like you say it is. I'll still put my money on the MR2, but I'm biased.
The car will hook up real well. I don't know about 6k drops, I'm not trying it. But remember, mid-engine is the best for traction in all scenarios.

Just save money, have a fast car, a really unique original car(not to say the mr2 is not unique because it is, but it uses cylinders!!!!), not to mention that when people who don't know their cars ask you if it's a 6 cylinder, you can say that your car doesn't use cylinders and confuse them thouroughly. Nuff' said.

The SW020 stock block does have tuning limitations also. I have seen friends blow fist size holes in their blocks....the rod are not up to the higher boost levels. But, with any modifications, it can be a monster.
