TII Hood?

just a quick question, do you absolutely need a turbo 2 hood for a turbo 2 engine ( top mounted intercooler)? cause i just have a stock N/A hood.

haha no, you could always run no hood. In all seriousness the engine wouldn't like it and I don't even know if it clears the TMIC

yes..........you can always cut the NA hood....the IC needs the air if you plan on boosting.

There is a reason Mazda decided to use a hood scoop on a car that has an engine with a TMIC.

yea, with no scoop, the intercooler will just soak up all the heat from the engine and increase intake temps, leading to detonation under boost. not a good thing

On a similar topic, could you cut/bend the stock hood to make a scoop? yea, ghetto, but if the guy needs something to work without killing his motor...

Covert.. IT can be done for less then the price of a T2 hood.. $99 for piping and another Hundred for a used FMIC... But you can run with the N/A hood... I have seen it done several times without adverse effects, I wouldn't do it in hot weather though..lol

Get some longer bolts for the hood hinges and space them out about 3/4".

i ran a N/A hood on a T2 for a while when i got it. I ran fine and never over heated. Didnt push it hard though, just regular 7k rpm driving =P
But now with the T2 hood, seems to run a lot better, so i would recomend getting sum sort of cool air to the IC.
