TII Fuel Pump in N/A

Is the only thing needed the resistor pack? Other than that, it's a dropin, correct?

resistor pack for what? the injectors? You shouldn't need that at all. Nothing will change with the addition of a TII pump. The fuel pressure doesn't change, so the mixture will not change. The TII pump just has a larger capacity, so it can flow more LPH at the same pressure.

I just did this swap in the Hilton parking lot the morning after SS6. My pump started failing right before the Grapevine on the way down. I bought a TII pump in the parking lot at the event, threw it in the next morning and my GXL never ran better.

Ive never had a problem with my TII pump. No resistor pack, just dropped the pump in.

The resistor is just used to increase gas mileage. Running without it will have no effect in a properly running N/A, except a minor increase in gas consumption.

I put a my turboii pump in my n/a and had a fuel pressure gauge installed in the fuel line. The pressure read no different than when the n/a pump was in the car. That was at idle AND highway speeds.

I don't know why you would have an increase in fuel consumption with the same pressure. I got the same 24mpg going home on I5 that I got with my old pump. No difference at all except that my car failed to run like **** when turning left or with less than 1/2 a tank of fuel on board.

Mazda claims that is what the fuel pump resistor is for, on the early 'verts and the turbos.

As far as the running like **** durning turns, that is from a dirty pickup filter in the gas tank

www.camdensuperchargers.com

Numerous kits for supercharging the Rx-7. Check out the "Current Projects" link. This is what Im waiting for.. There was also a supercharger kit in production by nelson/paxton. I didnt really care for that setup all that much though, and it has been discontinued.

The fuel pump flow rates are in the online factory service manuals. Look in the Fuel section for the n/a then the turbo. Neither has the max flow to overwhelm the fpr in either car n/a or turbo.

I thought it was the pickup filter too, so I cleaned it. Problem didn't go away. I had an oscilliscope put on the circuit and the draw wasn't too high, but there was a nasty wobble in the trace. The conclusion? Bad brushes.
