TID mod
Hey, I have read alot of things about the TID mod, and I get the main drift, and for my S4 tii, what do I do with the things that are allready in the stock TID, like the factory blow off valave and all those, do I somehow plumb those back into the tid.. or what.. if anyone could help me with this, or direct me to a good write up for my S4 it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Drill, tap, what ever you need to do to put those Items back in there. The blow off valve needs to stay the way it comes factory, (plumbing wise), unless you have an S-AFC. Just do what you can with it.

If you don't have an S-AFC or some other piggyback and you vent it to the atmosphere, your car is going to go rich when it vents. With an S-AFC you can eliminate the rich affect.

Finally I open air vented my blowoff valve for that nice, riceboy
intimidating shift. I didnt like the changes in idle and around town driving
with it left open and idled up. so I went to lowe's and got a plumbing
fixture, 3/4" flapper-door type check valve. The door moves very freely, adn
it is plenty wide enough to flow air. I mounted it on the pass. firewall,
facing upwards. This keep sthe flapper door closed except when pressurized.
I ran some spare ACV silencer hose from it to the blowoff valve itself,
about 9 inches away. IT holds vacuum fine, and sounds killer when boosting
hard. Between it and the TID mod, I can hear teh turbo spool nicely, and
hear it release when I shift. Pretty cool for $10 each mods.Im hoping that
when I get my dual canister catback, this mod will also help me shoot hella
flamage since i have no cats. :-) Oh, and I have also rewired my fuel pump
for constant high voltage.
This was quoted from Kevin Landers, I have seen 3 cars with the DIY bov and all 3 ran fine. The tid mod is very, very easy.

This happens with other cars, not RX-7's
Using a check valve in conjunction with the stock unit is kind off ugly, but no ill affects will occur. Yes and FCD is a good idea.

How is a s-afc going to stop you from running rich w/ an open vented bov? I mean like you arent going to beable to program it for everytime you shift to reduce fuel for a second. The only way I see to get rid of it is to get a standalone, and eliminate the AFM.

Just make your TID, make a route for the stock bypass valve to loop back into the TID (or get a real BOV), and make (only 1 for the S4's I believe) a nipple for a vac. line off of your TID as well. Tuh Duh! Happy Spoolin'
