"thud" sound coming from rear end?!!

ok so on my way to school i start hearing a "thud" coming from the rear end every time i go into gear and every time i shift so when i got home i got my dad to look at my diff under the car as i put it into gear and he said it was moving up and forward about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. is ther supposed to be any movement from the diff? could my diff be blown? the differential is a lsd i swapped from an 86 (mine is 87 n/a base 2+2) i found at the parts yard with unknown miles. id never has made this sound before, and the las time i drove the car "hard" was probably about a month (gas gets exspensive) ha ha

Lemme know what you think!

Thanks!

It is your front diff mount, I have broken two, I suggest buying the competition mount from mazdatrix (cheaper and stronger than OEM) then Installing a pinion snubber

Link: http://mazdatrix.com/G8DiffMnt.HTM (it's the second one)

oh yeah, installing the front diff mount is kind of annoying, and if you haven't done it before I would suggest clearing a decent part of your day to do it haha

good luck!
