For those of you who have followed my squealing story
So Mazda told me I have a lower intake leak. Well, I had everything off execpt that, and I just went out to work on it. I go to take the first bold off the lower, and.....No resistance whatsoever. WTF. Next bolt. Same. Next. Same. Out of the 7 bolts, I couldve taken off 4 of them with my hand. I was obviously rushing through when I swapped my american intake onto my J-Spec. I now feel like a HUGE jackass, and will now put it all back together. Now we will all bow our heads and pray this was my problem. Um, if your an Aethist, just wish me luck.

Started at 845. Finished at 345. The car will not even start now. It is offical. I cannot fix my car, and IT is trying to kill me. I could not push it back up my driveway, I was too tired, and theres a huge pothole infront of my driveway keeping me from getting up on the curb. I rolled it out of the driveway, thinking it was going to start. Im so tired im not even getting ready for bed, cause I dont think im gonna/wanna wake up.

Keep cool I know how you feel sometimes. If you keep at it you will find the prolbem, the key is to just keep calm, I use to get so pissed off, then when I go calm down and come back to the car it usually goes so much either. It usually isnt that easy but you will get it im sure.

Well, When I was first trying to start it, I forgot I didnt connect the linkage from the OMP to the throttle body! Doh! I also forgot to put those 3 vaccum lines onto the intake. Well, I was laying in my bed this morning, and I forgot to hook something else up. The connector for the crank sensor. Damn, youd think I wouldnt forget that dumb crap, working on it for 7 hours. Im pretty sure that would keep it from starting.

Ok, well, my car now runs, somewhat correctly, since I bought it. Problems arise.
1. Theres burning coolant smoke around the lower intake.
2. Idles high. I fiddled with my idle screw before, this is probably it.
3. Boosts to 5, MAYBE 6 psi. Shouldc be higher, I have a RB turbo back exhaust, and a FCD.
Any Ideas?

You must have really left those bolts loose if they came off by hand. Sometimes you need to torque, drive a while, then retorque. Hope you get the boost problem settled.

Tony,
Recently did a lower intake job on my '87 TII. If that coolant is smoking look around on the exhaust and turbo to see if you can find a white residue (antifreeze once it has evaporated). Did you end up replacing those o-rings at the lower intake manifold?
