Damn man!!! My next mod is gonna be an alarm!!! **** i had a stereo once stolen from my car... It was only worth $200 but ****.. The fact that it happened just pissed me off more. It pissed me off because it made me feel vunerable and then I knew I had to watch my back. Man... That totally sucks.
I have close to $1000 in stereo equipment right now and no alarm.

Does anyone have a diagram for wiring the alarm? Such as Dome light wire, ignition cut wires, or at least something that will help my bypass the OEM alarm that just PLAIN sucks? Any ideas on protecting my car will help.

Also, I think instead of bashing RPeck it would be cool to show help him or help ourselves from this happening to us. We all love our cars. Lets help each other out and not tell ourselves how stupid we are.

Lets grow up.

Well look at it this way... it appears in this picture that Mickey mouse installed the stereo stuff anyway, so now when you get around to installing it again you can (or have a professional) do it right.

Most of the time, when the stereo gets stolen it’s because it is easily seen or the owner is stupid and doesn't use common sense (like turning down the radio when driving through the neighborhood, or before pulling into the parking lot).

The ***** of you! I care not what you think about my wiring AFTER it has been cut in 10+ locations & thrown all over my fukin car. Nor, mark do I give a **** what you have to say period! When you next toss $1800 to a fukin theif talk to me, untill then shut your fukin hole and dream about having a stereo that I once had.

Now, that is negativity at its damn shamedest!

Man that sucks

If you are going to get an alarm get one that pages when it goes off. Poeple are used to alarms going off and ignore them unless it sounds like their own.

As for beating the **** out of them, I know how you feel but it ain't worth it, 'cause, two days later he comes back with a lawyer!

WOW!. I am sorry that this had to happen. This happened to me, Stolen stereo, sub and amps. 30 hours of laying wire and connectors.... gone. What really steamed me is that they poped the lock but the door was unlocked.

Again, sorry to see these photos and to read of your misfortune.

Sorry to upset you so, and for your loss, but when I see simple things like that "4 gauge wire" coming out from just being shoved under the running board instead of the carpet ripped because it was installed in the factory wire channels, and not even screw mounts or heads on that "glass"/plastic fuse holder I think sub-standard installation.

And yep you did ask for comments when you were feeling sorry for yourself and posting pictures.

Won't your insurance cover the replacement and broken parts??? Most car owners add the rider to their insurance when they have a "dream" stereo system.

and my comment of:

was more directed to TRURX7 and his suggestion of
it would be cool to show help him or help ourselves from this happening to us. We all love our cars. Lets help each other out and not tell ourselves how stupid we are.
so again sorry if that rubbed you the wrong way. 18 plus years of automotive electronics, and installing $10000 systems or $1800 head units and you would get sensitive to things like what you posted as well.

Its hard to trust even some professionals nowadays. I have seen instances where professionals install your system and since they are the only ones that know how they wired it, they come back and take it or have someone take it.

I only trust myself in the wiring because I have seen this happen more than once. I may not be the best installer out there, but there is nothing super-trivial about wiring systems anyways. The hard part is to make your system a non-firehazard, clean, and something that you are happy with.

BTW,
Ice, do you have any pointers or anything that can help me with these two:
1. Aftermarket alarm wiring. ie (stock wire colors for dome light trigger, starter interrupt, parking light flash, etc.)
2. How do I disable the stock alarm?

Thanks,
You have been a great help in the past.

My friend spent $1300 on a system and kept all the paper work and turned them into the insurance agent and got every penny back. He found a great deal on a new head unit and kept the rest. Plus he had that eclispe head unit that when you first install it you have to put in a cd and it uses that as a key. So every time you take it out of a car you have to enter that CD. Pretty cool stuff out there. Sorry to hear about the break in man.

Insurance is not my issue here. I hope to claim this on homeowners. And even if I get every penny back .. my car was butchered! thats what I'm pissed about. There is noone that is going to put my car back the way it was. There is no body shop that is going to fix my air vent's, console, dash board, or shifter area. I'm pissed about the car! Don't get me wrong .. my system being stolen is BS! but replaceable .. the many Hrs of work I had into that setup.. and the irreplacable guts of my dash can not be fixed.

And Icemark, you caught me at a bad time .. your right I did get pissed! And I think rightfully so. What you said compares to me like; telling someones mother " damn your house is beautiuful, but that fukin carpet is ugly" ... just un called for, thats all. If its been done... no sense in making it worse, if the carpets been laid .. how is she going to fix it?

I posted this as a warning to all, and for some upbeat insight from those who have walked a mile in my shoes ... and is seems there is many, and many who think their is laws that need correcting. rubbing salt in the wound, or degrading what worked perfect was not what I asked for. Opinions are like ********, everyone either has one, or knows one. In this case I think you qualify for both. My system worked fine the way itt was, and no wires could be seen unless you poped the seats forward. And like alot of us "modders" guess what I payed to have that perfectly woring stereo to be installed? No a fukin penny! I installed it my damn self .. just like most of us do with most of our mods.

damn....if that happened to me, i'd shoot too....i've been really wanting to get a gun for the purposes of shooting at firing ranges and because I like guns, and I would definitely shoot someone who threaten my life, family and property regardless of what the law says, but whether or not I'd do it is another question....of course, I can always plant something in their possession to make it look like they threatened me, but then I'd also have to kill them....maybe I'd kidnap them and torture them to a slow death...by then, I'd be in jail and it'd be no fun (yes, I know I take things to extremes sometimes and corporate punishment should be this way too....it would help to curve crime, but just like many other countries like singapre and iraq, it will not prevent crime....singapore punishments are nothing compared to my ideas.......iraq might be close, or more extreme)

whoever said this is americanism, i would kind of have to disagree, but then I live in california, and gun and self-defense laws vary by state....(in cali, we can't shoot unless life is threatened)

anyways.....i've been wanting to invest in a .45 or .357SIG but don't know anything about california gun laws except that assault rifles, cheap pistols, and submachine guns are banned, I think some shotguns are banned too....curse california gun laws!

anyone have a link where i can find gun laws for california without too much technical stuff or with an explanation of the technical stuff i can look at?

Taka,
http://www.nra.org/ has all gun laws for Cali, and links to state police web pages for laws. One word of advice Glock 27 .40 It is small for concealment, and packs a punch. Good luck,

Ok, it happened (to me before too). Before you take it in to your insurance co for them to cut you a check, bring all the reciepts, pictures, manuals, and boxes you have/had. Also, one VERY important thing to note is, typically, insurance co's won't pay for it if it wasn't bolted down. So make it look like things were bolted down if they weren't already. I had reciepts and everything for a dual 10" box that I had in the hatch of my 83. I couldn't bolt it down, because if I did, i'd never be able to get the spare out. They said, too bad. But then they gave me 212 dollars for the stereo surround and I picked up a junkyard one for 14 bucks. It kinda made up for the speaker loss. Luckily, they missed a 12" JL sub and a pair of 80 dollar tweeters.

Now, I have a shitty stereo that I don't even listen to. It was just a phase for me that I think I am over.

Dude that sucks soooo bad - I hope you find the delinquents! My brother's car got broken into twice - and God knows if I ever found who did that person(s) would not be walking for a long time.

Regarding the need for tougher punishment, I know in some middle eastern countries they will straight cut off the hand that you stole with. Hence the guy can leave his shop and go pray at the mosque without worrying about someone stealing something.

Well, I found a window in Sacramento for $45.00 that’s not bad. The weather is great around here right now so I don’t mind taking my bike to work till I can get to Sac this weekend.

I have done just about anything there is to do to a RX engine .. but never any body work. How hard is it to change a window in these things? Any special tools or anything? Couple Hr job or what?

Thx.
