thinking of joining the rx7 family
Hello I'm new to this forum and am thinking of purchasing a 91 convertible RX-7 2moro and wanted feedback from owners of the 2nd gen to see what I'll be getting myself into.
What are the main problems with these cars? Costs?
What I don't like about the car is that it is an auto. How is acceleration and reliability of the auto? I can live with not shifting myself. I don't plan on racing the car, but I don't want to sacrifice the fun of driving.
And last, what should i look for when i go to see this car?
Thanks for any feedback i get...

acceleration, my dad's V8 cargo van would give it a run for its money.
reliability all depends on how well it was taken care of. Get it compression tested, if the compression is within spec then do a major tune up and take good care of her and it will last a long time.

Autos are quite a bit slower than the 5-speed. Still a fun car though... and an AUTO can still be upgraded to a TII, perhaps even simpler than a manual tranny car.

The Verts are great cruisers. As far as acceleration goes, these cars are heavy anyway, but I would think it would be acceptable as long as your expectations aren't too high. VetteKiller is right, get it compression tested first and if you get it have it tuned and set up right by someone who knows what they are doing (that's not as easy as it sounds sometimes) and you should be OK if you maintain it properly. This is a good place to learn how to maintain it properly as well.
