Ah yeah, I know what you mean.
Seen a bunch of them from hIGGI...

No, it is not a cat.

It's a rollover from the 1st gens.
It's that big thing that's right off the engine exhaust ports.
It collects the exhaust gases and allows them to burn a little longer, reducing emissions.

Yep, I seen them all rust and fall apart.
If you have cat and air pump, you can change to US stock exhaust manifold and still pass...unless they look under the hood for it.

no, u can`t use stock US exhaust manifold :

http://rx7cz.net/photos/workshop79/IMG_3186.JPG

as u could see from picture, US manifold does not cover EGR holes on US block

same problem might be with header if u will not have custom made including cutting own (bigger) flange

Do you know if for example the racingbeat header/collector would fit on a europe FC?

u are not talking about thermal reactor / exhaust manifold but about stuff down there where main cat is on US models

if u keep EU thermal reactor and original 'downpipe' it will be hard to mate it to US spec main cat because its not normal pipe. Its too complicated, just replace it with headers and straight pipe

probably not, every county does have different emission testing and requirement

maybe custom headers + highflow cat could work for you
