Theft (breaking and entering)
Someone busted the passenger side window of my 1986 rx7 gxl, and tore apart the trim to get my after market radio.
Does anyone have any leads on where to look for a window?
further more, does anyone have ANY idea on where to look for the trim pieces surrounding the radio?
While i am at it, The switches controlling the power windows are totally shot anyway...how about those?
I'd love to get this car back in prime condition again. I simply have no idea where to start looking for the parts, aside from junk yards.

For the radio surround, either find somebody on here or craigslist parting stuff out; or sign up over at mazdarecycling.com and he'll ship you out the piece for $65 (50+shipping).
I got lucky, and found one at a pick-n-pull this past weekend. It was a 1/2 off weekend so it was $3!! Mind you though, I musta spent like $15 on admissions over the past couple months searching, heh.

Search for "Malloy Mazda" or "Ray Crowe" on here. I bought the radio surround new from the local dealer about 6 years ago. It was ~$100 = back then. Im sure it would have been cheaper from Malloy Mazda. The for sale section has plenty of them for sale. Also check your regional forum section to see if theres anything for sale in your area.

I was reading about a custom carbon fiber radio peice. Also the shifter area as well. Not sure on price. You might want to go this way since you have to spend some money.
Some guy from down under (australia) Makes them. Some have a link for this guy?

Happened to me. $150 for glass from a glass shop, $80 for trim from mazdatrix (tho I just glued mine). Your insurance company will probably recommend a glass shop for you at no charge. You can also get the glass for about $50 from a yard, if you can find one that has it. If you have a crank window, push a piece of thick or folded cloth underneath the crank to remove the clip. The rest is easy.
Trim is cheaper at a yard too, though radio trim that isn't broken is hard to find b/c it breaks easily. I'm going to reinforce the areas near the screw holes on mine. On mine the top split apart, and the screw-bracket at the bottom snapped. It won't stop a thief from eventually breaking it, but it will stop me/others from accidentally breaking it.
The cop recommended getting a radio with a removable cover in the future.
