lets see go to autozone and buy a K&N filter. 50 dollars, 30 dollars for an AFM adapter from HIGGI(HKS costs more from the store), Silicone couplers are around 20 bucks shipped a peice, mandrell bends are around 30-50 bucks a peice. Brackes I would say they would cost around 5-10 dollars. add it up.
Compare it to say the APEXi or BONEZ or HKS intakes. See how much more ours costs.
And I will show you how much temps change from one of the intakes I mentioned above to ours.
Not to mention Check Points intake which is basically the same cossts 250 dollars. Want more?

if u get your g-tech... just a idea but u should really you should do a double blind test.. get your buddies to put on ur intake(without you knowing what intake ur running) do 10 runs.. than the factory(again not knowing what intake is on) another 10 runs.. add up the times and divide by 10. just because even if i knew i was selling a product that was on my car i would try just a little harder with my intake on rather than factory.. i'm tired and i dunno if that made sense.

Sure sell me your TII for 2g's
I need a working car to test on. MAX has a dead TII but it is missing the AFM and a bunch of other parts. Like I mentioned if anyone wants to volunteer go for it I will give you an intake for free if you let us use your TII as the FIRST tester

Every little bit helps, but...........a turbo at a mild boost of five psi, will have a output temp of around 180 degrees TO the Intercooler, FROM the turbo. And thats on a 75 degree day. Seems more money should be invested in a great intercooler than the cold air intake when you talking about a turbo. The above temp was measured with a Fluke52II. Near instantaneous readings. Output from the stock intercooler was approx 110 when the turbo output was 180. Not a bad intercooler, if you ask me.

I agree completly that IC's do the BULK of the cooling for turbo carb. But I will also agree that every little bit count. Why because my cone filter is taking in 130* air from the engine bay to begine with. Our cold air intake lowers that temp by ATLEAST 20* that is quite a bit if you ask me. Normally I saw 90's with the CAI meaning a drop in temp from 20-40* F which will do great things for your intercooler, turbo, and engine. Not to mention add powah!
I would say that if you have a decent intercooler and add one of our future cold air intakes it would help the intercooler itself since it will not heat soak as fast as using only a cone filter.

Yup. Sounds like a good cold air box. Just my way of letting some of us novices know how much the compressor side of the turbo heats the air up. I had no idea until a few weeks ago. I also had no idea how well the stock intercooler works.
Trust me, you don't wanna know how hot the air is coming out of the turbo when the outside air temp is over 100 degrees.

Man this sucks you make something that works and people punch holes in it. I say go man. I made a homemade cold air for my Gsl-se. Basically I dremeled the passenger side radiator support where the plastic air horn was, took the cover that fits between the front of the radiator and the body, put a little home depot pvc tube in there to mount my cone filter, and hooked up more pvc till I got to the MAF sensor. Put a HKS adapter and a home made gasket in there, instant cold air (from in front of the radiator). But anyone that has any knowledge of cars knows that reducing the intake temps has a very good effect on the combustion of the car. Lets you run more advance, lets you have higher compression or boost, and generally sets the foundation for more HP and more air density. I say, make it, offer it for sale, and thats it. People run out and get a cone filter and a greddy this and that but flame people that make something 'You need to dyno it blah blah' Geezus!

Thanks for the support man. How is the PVC holding up? I heard some bad stuff about PVC and fire man. It allegedly releaces toxic fumes when it has high temps around it or is burned. I would say try some mandrel bends and see what you can do. I could offer a helping hand if you need me to over IM

While it's good to see someone developing parts for these cars, if you expect someone to fork over their hard-earned cash for something you've made, you need to be able to prove that it works. Not just saying "it works good" or "it feels faster" but real, solid proof.
You may be happy buying on blind faith, but most people are smarter than that.

$30 for afm adaptor, since s5 doesn't use/need adaptors, does that mean we dont have to pay for them?

I was going to throw it in for S4 guys only. They weren't going to pay anything extra.

Ok guys all the results are in and I will be asking JOnathan to update them onto the website ASAP.
I also am about to order the little TAZOO gadget which measures acceleration, G's, 0-60, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, etc.
Now we will have some real numbers you all can look at other than cooling temps.
I still haven't made the dang manometer though. I started to get lazy as I started to buy parts for my car. But I am back in full force you all.
More data will ge recorded with ALL four intakes and will be posted on the website.
Santiago
PS- At this time the group buy is still going on so please visit us or send us an e-mail or PM. I will be happy to answer any questions about anything
Lastly I would also like to gauge the possible interest in a CAI for the TII.
You all post here if you want us to really start working on them or not. If the interest is good then I will start working on MAX's TII and hope to get it running ASAP for testing.

Hey what about some of that heat resistant insulation over the intake pipe, especially over the metal parts. a material dosent have to dissapate heat if it never reaches it. http://www.bakerprecision.com/insulat.htm has some, though i admit 20.00 per foot is kinda much, but there may be cheaper, this is just the first site i came across. just a thought. may help with heat soak and possably overall temp.

Well with the cold air intake the max heat soak wasn't that bad actually. But I will check all that out too.
I was really thinking about a ceramic coating or some form of high temp paint but there really isn't enough people even in the group buy right now for me to think about making it more expensive.
Once there is a bigger interest I will do more. But people start to ask for lower pricing already and I don't see how they will react positively to a higher price point.
