temp guage question

I noticed a thread the other day stating the guage should only settle a quarter of the way and mine sits at half.
half had been normal for me so I thought nothing of it.
now my girl turns the ac on and the guage shot up to 3 quarters so I changed thermo and flushed the system but it settles at half still although will not shoot up with the ac on.
is there anything I missed
srry im doing this on my phone

thanks guys (i searched the other day and either my search queary was thought bad or I just missed it)

S4's measure at 1/4 and S5's at a touch below 1/2.

Mine runs between 1/2-2/3 and I don't worry about it. Its not overheating or anything so I don't worry about it. I have an S5 temp sensor I think though.

No matter what that gauge is. Just don't let it above 1/2 way up.
My gauge is old and its precision is off; however, Overheating means overheating.

1) Get an aftermarket water temp gauge - the stock one is crap.
Don't listen to others who tell you "oh, 1/4 is okay" or "oh, 1/2 is okay".

2) It's actually...normal...for the temp to CLIMB when the AC is one.
The auxiliary electric fan for the AC *SUCKS* to help cooling when the AC is on.

Thanks, i'm planning on trying to get some gauges this weekend. I want to get a cluster (oil/water/battery) to put under the radio. The reason I was worried was last year even with the AC on it wouldn't jump like that.

Thanks for the replies very appreciated
