TB elbow -> Throttle body

is there supposed to be somekind of a gasket between these besides the weak sauce rubber o-ring? I have a vacuum leak, just wondering if i'm missing a gasket.

I usually put a small amount of the RTV. You might be able to find orings that size. Most people think it's a special oring because of it's shape, but it's just a regular oring molded after fitment.

the o-ring doesn't have any cracks or anything, maybe it's just flat? either way i through some rtv on it, i'll test it tomorrow with the compressor, see if it holds.

It is just the oring. Yes I have had issues with them leaking. I switched to RTV and solved it.

The obvious solution is ignored as usual. Go to Mazda and buy a new o-ring. They're only a few dollars and they work fine. No goo is needed.

Unless it involves servicing, Mazda is still useful.

There's only an o-ring. You can get a new one from Mazda, or bring the old one to a hydraulic (or most fastener stores) store and get one that way. I generally coat them with Hylomar as well.

Regarding the "weak sauce rubber o-ring": O-rings are far superior to gaskets in almost every circumstance. The reason is that because an o-ring sits in a groove, the higher the pressure on the ring, the more it is forced against the surfaces it is sealing and the better it seals. Gaskets on the other hand just blow out...It's probably a safe bet to assume that manufacturers use gaskets because they are cheaper then machining an o-ring groove.

Unless you've hacked up your TB, a new o-ring is always going to work. If you're going to say "I have had issues with them leaking" then you should at least mention that it was entirely your own fault.
