taking a trip to victorville...hesitant on taking the 7
Taking a trip to victorville to go quad riding...my family leaves on fri morning to stay in victorville for the weekend. but i work on fri, so ill have to meet up with them on sat. but i also realized how the heat gets intense over there. So assuming everything works properly in my car(engine performs well, well lubricated and cooled) can i just drive it there without worrying about overheating or other issues?

do some checks before you leave, check your oil, coolant, tire pressures, brakes, maybe even premix if you dont normally do it in case you're worried the OMP will stop working. i do it, just for piece of mind and the fact that if it does fail, i know i still have some protection.

Do you have an undertray on the bottem of the front of the car? Efan or stock fan WITH shroud?
If you have a stock fan and an undertray you car is very unlikely to overheat. It seems your car is N/A? If so it is a very reliable engine, just check and change your fluids and cruise out there.
Check all coolant hoses under the hood, just make sure they are not worn out.

^ i agree and i will check the fluids, hoses, and make sure i carry some oil and coolant just in case. yup its an N/A the stock fan with the shroud and undertray. my primary concern was the engine since it generates more heat then an average piston engine, so i was kinda worried the heat will take its toll on it
. but i will take the necessary precautions before i depart, thank you peeps

Assuming everything is in good working order and all maintenance is current, you should be fine. I would not recommend idling in traffic on a hot day with your AC blasting. Of course, you're always rolling the dice a tiny bit with a long drive in any 20+ year old car.

i've done the 1000+ mile round trip from the bay area to LA in rx7's for years without any trouble whatsoever.
just look the car over, make sure you have things like good belts, hoses, tires etc etc.

Those are mid April temps for Dallas.

If I was afraid to drive the Vert in that weather, there would be 100 fewer days per year to drive.
If your car is in good shape and maintenance you will be fine. If it is not in good shape and maintenance, you will not be fine.
