tail light conversion
after reading that thread on putting a turbo hood on an N/A 7, i'm a little hesitant to ask this question (and i hope it hasn't been asked recently, b/c i couldn't find it using search), but what do you guys think of putting series 5 2nd gen rx-7 tail lights (89-91) on a series 4 2nd gen. i think it's just a unique visual mod, something that not too many people do. but i'm the last person to like riced-out civics with ten-foot aluminum wings and coffee-can exhausts. anyways, what you guys think?

Wait, my car also has four round wheels just like a T'bird. Does that make it look like one? Perhaps it looks more like a Camry, coz they have four wheels too... j/k

haha, they have similar tailights so they look the same? go figure i want some S5 tails for mine, i had a chance a while back to get some for like 75 bucks but lost it. oh well for another day i spose. S5 tails look sweet, they make the S4 cars look better. as far as the T2 hood thing goes i dont see it as rice, its a good looking hood. if i had an N/A i want a T2 hood on it.

And I thought (and still do) that even back in 89 when the series 5 lights first came out that they looked just like that mid-eighties T bird. There is a very US domestic car look to the series 5 lights, that is radically different than any other Mazda product before or since. I see if I can find paictures to post that compare them, and eat my hat if you don't agree after seeing them next to each other on the same page.
And besides that I normally completely agree with you, the arguement that the early Rotaries had them is lame. No RX-7 had round tail lights for the first 10 years of production.

the vert lights have a keyhole on the left or right light, to open the trunk. US coupe guys/gals have hatches so we have the key located above the tailights and not in them. so if you put the coupes lights in a vert, you won't be able to get in the trunk, or .......yah.

i just got my 88 TII three weeks ago and haven't done any mods yet. i guess it's fast for the size motor that it is. keep in mind, i'm coming from a 265hp camaro. anyway, the whole point behind this reply...what do you consider to be too high a price for s5 lights??
