Working on the bracket for the alternator. need to find someone that can make a really rigid one to make it last. I should be set up fine for the wiring because its not very far off from the S5 alt setup.

I have the FD alt on the car and I notice that it needs to be a certain RPM to get excited.(sort of like the ex-wife..lol!)
Well that may be a problem of the way I had it wired,..SO right now I am completing, like YOU the Taurus swap.
I am using the thread in the Sec Gen Archives:
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-arch...r-swap-963821/
I used round headed carriage bolts instead of nuts and bolts to mate the "extension" onto the alternator bracket,so it looks a little "fancy".The headed just needed to be shaved a touch so that they sit side by side and won't turn. The extension is about 3 inches, not much to work with.
Picture the carriage bolts looking like Like this:
:::: ( I::I ):::::
I shaved the ear,and kept the stock mounting point the same.It seems a "wee bit" off" but I am just checking it out for now as I want to see if that is the problem I am having with the ongoing tuning of the car.I can still shave the ear of the alternator to take off more material if I find it is not aligning correctly.
Then again with all the parts I have,I am finding that really it depends on what pulley you are using to be a factor in clearance and aligning the belts when the alternator is installed.
Again finding a slight difference with pulleys clearing the face of the alternator. So If anyone does this, test fit everything.
Now I have yet to start the car as it is being..again..like the exwife..a total "D***** bag"..lol...
maybe I should trade the car in?..(like I did the EX..)...muahhahaha!

Also note: Im using the FD to FC pulley from Mazdatrix and it fits perfectly on the taurus alt.

Taurus alternator swap complete!
Boost issues fixed by replacing a rubber cap with some hose with a bolt in it... lol.
So far no tach issues as of summers start.

Okay so I was driving went to a bar about 25 minutes away. started driving home about 10 minutes and the car blew the 80A fuse... Should I put a stronger fuse or did I do it wrong?

If you are putting on a more powerful (load sensing) alt you need to upgrade the alt to battery wiring unless you want melted wires or a fire. Load sensing alts also need a battery voltage reference wire (separate to the main feed) directly to the battery so the alt can maintain a constant battery voltage.

So i know where I went wrong with the wiring... i put the 'I' to the white/black wire not the black/white wire... however now I fear I may have shot out my dash harness or all the switches because when the car blew the fuses everthing went wild... the wipers were going full speed the fan came on and blew hot air at me and all my gauges zeroed out. Idk if this is the case but if anyone has some experience in something similar i must know now!

Some useful reading for you. AusRotary.com • View topic - Alternator upgrades
Sort the alternator wiring out first and then see what you've blown.
My guess is you've over-powered everything when the fuse blew as the alternator had no battery or voltage reference to keep the voltage down or at 14.4v.
