Symptoms of a bad Start???
Well I am hoping it's a starter. Other thread indicate bad injectors or compression.
My car will have problems starting.
It's becoming more prevalent now.
Almost every time I try to start the car it will flood.
I then pull the fuse and crank it and try again.
Sometimes it will work or I might have to repeat the step a couple times. One time it took me 25 minutes to get it running.
I am thinking it's the starter cause it makes a deeper semi-slower sound upon cranking. Whe it does work it will make a quick higher sound and start right up.
Other times after the engine is at running temps or sitting for a while it will make the lower pitch hum and not work or will slowly getting it running.
IE: Slowly gargling to life.
Anyone got idea on how to test the starter without taking it out? Maybe bad voltage/electrical or something?
If totally needed I will yank the starter out of the SE and try it in my GTU cause that car turns over instantly even after sitting for 2 months with 152k on the engine.
My GTU right now has 98k on the engine.
Might have a little to do with this--This started ruoughly the same time the clutch went out. Which at the same time the Neg battery terminal went bad and I replaced with a Gold plated 2 outlet audio terminal.

Could be a low battery causing starting problems. Flooding may indicate an engine about to fail. Do a compression test to be sure. Pulling the starter to test is a waste of time. Nothing to test. You can check the solenoid by connecting a jumper from the + side of the battery and the ignition switch (little wire on top of the starter) to see if that is working properly. You can test the voltage drop at your battery. Voltmeter on the + and - terminals of the battery. Anything less than 9 volts with the starter cranking is a bad starter.... Provided you're starting with a good battery.
