Swap wont turnover
Im havin a little trouble starting my 13bt swap. I go and turn it over but I only get a really light clicking sound coming from around the power steering pump, then it stops. I "think" I hook'd everything up right. I'm using my stock s4 vert ecu in it. I tried it without hooking up the neutral safety switch could this be why? Id really really appreciate it if someone could help me out, thanks. It is a jdm engine and transmission.

Are you using just the 13BT engine w/o the turbo or turbo's still on there with an N/A ecu? just curiouse
i was getting that same problem earlier in october, thought my starter was bad since it started doing it intermitently then just stopped turning over. Turns out the wiring was bad.

It's a completely stock jdm 13bt. Jdm trannies do not have a neutral safety switch so I'm trying to figure out how to bypasss this. What did you rewire? I ran an extra ground off the battery terminal to the ignitor stud.

try the 15 amp engine fuse on the fuse block. that was my problem a while back. also just lightly tap the starter with a hammer/mallet and then try to start it cause that is what i had to do when my starter went out.

I need a little insight as to my fuel pump. I got the car to turn over and it sounds awesome, just won't start because of no fuel. My fuel pump won't turn on, but it worked perfect before I swapped it to a TII one.

Ok, I'm getting fuel, I'm getting spark but it still won't start. I took out the plugs and they had some gas on em so I dried them out and took the egi fuse out and turn it over for a couple seconds. Put the plugs back in, still won't start, it will turn over, but won't start. Maybe I foul'd the plugs? I am trying to start it with the n/a afm attached, I read on rr that you "can" use it, but once you start pushing the rpms it won't work too good. Do I need a TII afm to just start it, It's not even sounding like it's sparking in the chamber.

please, please, please, please, please, please, please,p lease, make sure your getting spark. Did you lay the spark plug on the irons and 'see' if the plug was sparking?? We did this same thing 2 weeks ago with somebody, turned out, no spark the whole time.

That's good so far. Take the spark plug out and lay it on the Irons and hook the wire back on it and now crank it. does it spark.......(in essence)......where the "gap" is (don't flame I don't know how to describe the three crevesis) That would tell you if you have spark going into the chamber.

Yeah I just took them out and tried. I took off the "in" fuel line and gas shot out so thats a good sign. The spark plugs spark when put to the housing, what could it be? Maybe it is flooded, the spark plugs did have some gas on them. This is gonna sound stupid but the T1 and L1 go to the front housing?? It's a jdm engine so the fuel flows into the top rail (pulsation dampner) and out the lower (fuel pressure regulator). It gets fuel, spark, has awesome compression... I wanna drive my car

well when i did my tII swap and then did emissions removal my car started to just flood after that so i had to install a fuel cut switch. so i would just flip the switch off so that i could get all of the gas out of the chambers and then once it wanted to start i would just flip the switch back on. but i would say to just pull the egi fuse again and then crank it with the gas pedal all of the way to the floor for like 10 15 seconds and then install the egi fuse again. and then go to crank it back up.

I take out my plugs after turning it over for about 8secs and there is visible liquid on the plugs i.e. gasoline. Could this mean that it is flooded? Do I just get a syphon pump to unflood the engine?

did that work out for you? also i remember that i was trying to rewire the tII fuel pump resitor relay and ended up blowing a fuse and then i didn't realize it but i would get the car to start then all it would do is just come on and then die right away. so try the 15 amp engine fuse at the fuse box too.

I just did the egi trick 3 times then tried to start it and no go. It turns fast, and wants to start but won't. No combustion is going on at all in the chambers. All my idiot lights are on aswell, fuel, overheat exhaust, all of them except parking break, even my Break light is on when not pressing the breaks. It only has 45k on it, but could have been sitting for 10+ years in a japanese yard. How do I check if the injectors are working? There is gas going to the rails because of the fuel that shot out when I took the line off from the fuel filter.

Ok, plugs smell like gas and are wet so I'm assuming that the engine is flooded. I crank'd the motor over for 4 10sec burst to try and unflood it, put in new plugs and nothing. How much oil should I actually put through the plug holes?

How easy is it for the plugs to get foul'd. I dry the plugs off after having gas on them put them in and still no start. I tested the plugs and they get spark when held to a ground but still not start. Do I really have to spend alot of time doing that atf trick, or in my case royal purple trick. I've put oil in it twice, crank'd it over with plugs in for like 8secs but still not even trying to start. Should I just keep cranking it with the plugs out for like a whole hour to get every bit of fuel out? The engine is a jdm one so it might have been sitting for a while, and it only had a tiny bit of oil in it when I first recieved it, maybe one of the seals are stuck?

hmm i dont know. i have a j-spec as well but i keep adding oil and rotating it every month to make sure the engine was ok. usually i juct burn the plugs off with a mini torch or a lighter to dry them. work everytime for me. if you motor has fuel and spark then i dont see an issue with it. unless the ecu your running is giving you problems.
