Suspension: How to get Lower Ball joint off
As the title states i'm wondering if i can take the rear ball joint assembly off without taking the whole disc and crap off. I've got the caliper off and the disc out of the way to have access to the balljoint assembly... But its connected with a stub that goes threw the assembly with a rounded top and bottom. So i can't unbolt it.. But i was told to use a pitchfork.. and a hammer.
But what about the stud??

I am still searching for the "right" tool!

Yea, a fork will tear the boot. Best to take a large pry bar, insert so that the "tip" is under the part that the stud goes through, and pry downward against the part that the joint is affixed to. Hammer against the side of the housing the stud goes through while pressing down heavily on the bar. I leave the nut on the stud so that when it comes loose, the part, bar, knuckles, and teeth don't go all at one time.
I'm sure that some applications it would be difficult to access properly.
They do make a tool for this apllication. It looks like a "C" with a screw at the top. Bottom, similar to a fork, slides under arm, screw down on stud, and it will push it out. Will not damage boot.

well, i dont really care if i break the boot because i need a whole new part that is connected to the ball bearing. So i dont really care how i get it out as long as i can install the new one without screwing up the old
