Supercharge -> Turbocharge?
Hey. I am about to buy me a 1987 turbo RX7 (yay!) but my plan is to drift with it... and turbos arent the best for drifting. BUT superchargers are! But anyways, would it be possible to take out my supercharger and excange it for a turbocharger? Because I read somewhere that a supercharged RX7 engine is totally diffrent from the non-turbo version. So my question is would it be possible to just take out the turbo and replace it???

Well, I think you're backwards... saying you're going from S/C to T/C... I think you mean from T/C to S/C...

This site as some good info and links, but I think that is for Supercharging a N/A.

Ooh yeah I was wrong. Thanks for the site! But the problem is just that! Is it possible to just use those instructions on a turbocharged engine or are they TOTALLY diffrent in some crazy way?

The rotors in a non turbo rotary engine have higher compression ratios than the rotors in a turbo engine. If you use a remove 1 method of forced induction (the turbocharger) and install another method of forced induction (supercharger) you will not run into any problems as far as the internal components of the engine are concerned. www.atkinsrotary.com makes rotary engines and superchargers for them. They are great at answering questions as long as you keep the questions kinda short (they do have a shop to run) but don't bother emailing them. They don't have someone dedicated to answering emails all day. You have to call them on the phone. The superchargers they use don't work with fuel injection, so you have to use a carb. They are working on a unit that will work with fuel injection, but its not available yet.
