i got the same problem!, i know what it is, well as long as the motor on that side is still working... listen to hear if the motor is still working, it most likely is.. if it is, there is a cable on either side, that connect the sunroof from the motors, and pull it open on each side.. well my cable on the left side frayed so i have to put my arm out the window and push it pretty damn hard to help it out... if it wont go up, push from inside the car.... it will go.... but you might have to push pretty damn hard to un-Stick it.

slide the sunroof all the way back, and thoroughly clean out the rails and then lubricate them with silicone. It should operate better after a good cleaning.

Seems only one side wanting to open is a pretty common problem. Easiest first step is to try cleaning and lubing again, but that might not solve your problem.
I found my sunroof motor drive gear to be warn down to the point where the gear teeth were concave. Hence the gear teeth were only making contact with one of the sunroof drive cables, and that is why only one side wanted to open on it's own.
I found a motor in better condition with a non-warn-out drive gear, and after reinstalling, plus cleaning and lubing the cables/tracks, the sunroof works well agan.
BUT - taking out the entire sunroof assembly to fully inspect/clean/lube/whatever is a whole 'notha story, and shouldn't be attempted by the faint of heart..

The clicking sound is probably the motor gear teeth jumping out of the cable's grooves.
Might take your sunroof motor out and inspect that gear. Requires dropping the headliner, at least from the back. You have to be pretty committed to fixing the problem because there are quite a few pieces of trim that come off in the process of dropping the headliner.

I did this and it worked. First, it would only open a tad and seemed that only one side wanted to move. By conventional wisdon, often stated on this forum, that seemed to indicate the cable on the weak side was frayed/broken. I did the following.
1. Used high pressue air to blow out crud
2. Used Q tips & WD-40 to get out as much crud/dirt as possible
3. It would still not move if I tapped/pushed it by myself (push while holding button down)
4. Had a friend pull evenly the two sides of the roof while I held the button and pushed from inside.
5.Bingo! it opened
6. Cleaned the bejesus out of it using WD-40, Q tips and rags. Did this at least 8 times as I recall, untill very little dark stuff remained. Lubricated with white lithium spray, opened and closed it several times to work it in
8. Removed the lithioum with Q tips & rags in order to get rid of the WD-40. Did this several times until the lithium was clean and the roof moved smoothly on the tracks without the usual tap/push to get it started.
9. Now works perfectly.
I wonder how many folks have unnecessarily replaced the entire sun roof when trying what worked for me might have saved the trouble and expense.
